Our chemistry department is proud to promote and sponsor students who wish to do independent research and/or study at other universities. Matt Banghart and Andrea Garcia are two USP students who presented research projects this year at national conferences. Andrea presented her poster "Detection of Amiodarone in Human Heart Tissue using MALDI-MS" at the 49th American Society for Mass Spectrometry. Matt worked in the laboratory of Milton Brown at the Univeristy of Virginia as part of the undergraduate National Science Foundation program. As a USP Chemistry Professor I am honored to assist our students further their extra-curricular chemistry careers and I wish them great success in the future.

Sometimes I can't help but share the limelight:)
Presenting in the field of chemistry always provides friends, both
old and new!
Above: Matt Banghart received an award for his work on the
design and synthesis of novel NAALADase Inhibitors project at the University
of Virginia.
(Thank you Matt for sharing this experience!)
